Yoga: Class Descriptions
An ancient art and a modern blessing, yoga is today's answer
to the problem of stress management and creating balance
between body, mind and spirit.

Hatha Yoga includes stretching and strengthening,
breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and meditation
resulting in a variety of health benefits.

Yoga works on the muscularskelatal system as well
as the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, immune and
nervous systems.  

Regular yoga practice reduces anxiety, stress and blood
pressure levels and enhances relaxation, flexibility,

There are many reasons a person may choose to begin yoga
- and there are many modern spin-offs of yoga.  Selecting the
right yoga for you may involve trying out a few classes to find
the one that is right for you.  Think about your goals in taking
yoga, and ask your instructor the goals of the class and the
instructor's background and experience.  










Class Descriptions:
Level 2 Intermediate

New poses are introduced, increased emphasis
on developing upper body strength moving into
inversions.  Deeper flexibility and strengh are
realized through a more challenging practice.  




Level 3 Intermediate to Advanced

More challenging poses are introduced,
increased emphasis on developing both
strength and flexibility moving into inversions.  
Additional pranayama and longer holdings are
used at this level.
Gentle

Gentle beginner level yoga combines stretching,
breathing, gentle movement, restorative
postures, and relaxation techniques to improve
range of motion, reduce stress, and create gentle
relaxation. Gentle Yoga is suitable for people with
no previous experience, older beginner students,
and anyone with limited flexibility, strength, or
range of motion.

Level 1  Beginner

This is an iintroduction to Hatha Yoga for new  
beginner students, focusing on learning basic
yoga postures (asanas), proper body alignment
and breathing techniques.  Level 1 students
experience reduced stress and tension, greater
body awareness, and an enhanced sense of well
being.

Level 1-2  Continuing  Beginner

A continuation for beginner students,
this class focuses on developing
skill in foundational yoga postures
with emphasis on proper body
alignment and breathing
techniques, and developing
strength and flexibility.

Hot Yoga

A vigorous class where the room is
heated to 85 - 95 degrees.  Dynamic
and challenging posture sequences
with longer holdings to develop
increased flexibility, strength, stamina
and balance.  Purify and detoxify the
body.  Bring water and a towel and
plan to sweat.
